Full-time Director of Studies

IH Bangkok currently requires an experienced Director of Studies to manage the day-to-day running of the school and lead a team of 6-8 teaching staff. We are seeking an excellent communicator with a positive outlook and strong leadership skills.
The ideal candidate will bring some solid experience and qualifications and will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of the school. It is essential that the applicant has excellent organisational and administrative skills, in addition to possessing strong IT competence.
The candidate will work closely with the Managing Director in improving standards of quality with respect to the financial and educational success of the school.
It is essential that the applicant has experience teaching Young Learners, IELTS and EAP and has a proven track record of being a popular teacher. They must also be flexible and willing to teach a range of classes in addition to being on standby to cover for sick teachers.
The working hours will be 45 a week, from Saturday to Wednesday, which will include around 12 hours teaching per week.
Key responsibilities
Responsible for assuring the quality of the teaching activity in the school. This will include teacher recruitment, training, development, and management, and being responsible for school processes, including placement testing and needs analysis, course design and execution, including testing, and the monitoring of student satisfaction and teachers' performance in observations.
Expected to identify and solve problems or anticipate and prevent potential problems through the continual improvement of processes and procedures.
Expected to liaise with the marketing department and create academic proposals and attend meetings with potential company, school, university or government clients.
Training, staff development and management
Train and induct teachers in operational procedures and IH products.
Regularly observe teachers, according to IH guidelines.
Regularly evaluate academic staff, establishing clear goals and priorities for improvement and development.
Lead and/or arrange seminars and workshops in teacher development.
Organize and lead regular staff meetings and effectively communicate management decisions to teachers.
Recruit teachers, according to IH guidelines, in agreement with the MD.
Ensure teachers follow the IH code of conduct and take appropriate action when necessary and in agreement with the MD.
Deal with staff (teacher, MD, admin and marketing) concerns promptly and effectively,
communicating needs to other managers/departments as necessary.
Provide training to the marketing team regarding the academic product and any updates or changes.
Work with the MD and teachers to constantly improve the academic quality of the centre.
Timetabling and teacher utility
Plan and organize your own and teachers' time efficiently and in the best interests of the centre.
Consult with the MD and sales staff to ensure effective timetabling.
Maximise teacher utility in the best interests of the school.
Centre development and operation
Coordinate the placement testing of students' in cooperation with the marketing team, according to IH guidelines.
Develop course/supplementary materials based on customer needs and in cooperation with the MD
oversee the work, development and behaviour of students within the centre.
Professional development
Teach professional courses based on customer needs.
Provide lessons to the highest standards using a variety of motivating techniques.
Maintain awareness of new theories and methodology.
