PSU Faculty of Medicine has expanded its range of services in support of a busy hospital and is now currently looking for a native English Instructor to work for its International Affairs Office

Job description:
1. to edit or draft various English language documents on behalf of the Faculty of Medicine including thesis or journal abstracts, manuscripts of full journal articles or presentations, PowerPoint presentations, letters or emails for international distribution, according to requests. Note: the language content is highly scientific and medical.

2. to teach English to Faculty staff and medical students especially TOEFL and IELTS. Teaching classes will be set as priority and average teaching hours should not be more than 20 hours per week.

3. to arrange workshops to encourage staff to improve their English skills

4. to assess by interview; medical students, doctors and Faculty staff who are either going to or expect to be studying overseas.

5. to act as an English consultant to faculty staff when needed.

6. to participate in arranging English camps.

7. to be available in the International Affairs Office for occasional urgent editing, consultancy or intra Faculty tasks.

8. Other responsibilities as requested by the Vice Dean for International Affairs.

Terms of Contract:
1. A one-year renewable contract. It is possible that a longer contract for more than one year may be available; nevertheless, this depends upon the requirements of the Faculty and the consideration of the administrator.

2. Full-time staffs generally work Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. – 4.30 p.m. However, teachers need to be flexible as some classes start early and some finish late.

3. Monthly salary 32,000 baht plus 8,000 baht for housing allowance

4. 10 days annual leave + Thai public holidays.

5. Social Security payments for medical insurance will be 750 per month deductible at source by the Faculty. In subsequent years after the first year of service this will be paid by the Faculty.

Qualifications:

• Native English speaker

• Experience in teaching TOEFL and IELTS is required
• Bachelor’s degree or above
• Experience in teaching English to medical staff, students or relevant fields is desirable.
• Hold a CELTA certificate (or equivalent)

PSU Faculty of Medicine is located in Hat Yai, Songkkla province. We are the sole medical school in Southern Thailand and are located on a lovely green campus bordering a mountain range. Hat Yai is a commercial and tourist city, full of peace and nice local people. It is very accessible by air, train, and bus service from Bangkok, Phuket and Malaysia.
