Yupparah Wittayalai School is the pre-eminent government school in the North of Thailand. We are located in the heart of the old city of Chiang Mai, and we are surrounded by the unique culture and amenities offered by Thailand's second largest city. With a school enrollment of nearly 4,000 students, we offer a broad range of programs and teach numerous different curricula.

We are currently seeking Native Speakers from the US, UK, NZ, Canada or Australia between the ages of 26 and 45 years old for several English teaching positions in our foreign language department for the school year beginning in May 2011. Foreign teachers currently teach English listening and speaking skills only. Our lower Mathayom level class sizes are about 25 students and our upper Mathayom level class sizes are between 40 and 50 students. A foreign teacher's class load is normally between 19 and 22 classes a week.
Applicants should possess the following:
a bachelor's degree or higher in education or a related faculty
a TEFL or other diploma related to teaching a foreign language
experience teaching secondary school students (grades 7 to 12"”Mathayom 1-6)
the ability to prepare lesson plans based on provided curriculum material
the Thai Culture Course Certificate (as approved by the Teachers Council of Thailand)
the ability and willingness to pursue the necessary steps to acquire a Thai Teacher's Certificate from the Teachers Council of Thailand www.ksp.or.th/Khurusapha/en/
We are offering a 12 month contract and will assist with application for a work permit and visa. Beginning salary is 25,000 Baht/ month. Teachers normally receive approximately 6 weeks paid vacation and all government holidays. Medical insurance is available and is partially subsidized by the school.
