Full-time Elementary School EFL Teachers

This job is located at Assumption College Primary Section (ENS) in Bangkok

Expected salary: At least 40,000 Baht/month
Published on: 10-01-2010

Looking for positive, motivated teachers who are passionate about teaching children and enjoy being creative in the classroom.

Assumption College Primary Section (ENS) is seeking EFL teachers for the 2010 academic year with a start date of March 19th, 2010. This position is within the Native English Speaking Program (ENS), which is separate from the English Program (EP). These positions are advertised separately on this website.

The scholl:

  • Assumption College Bangkok is part of the St. Gabriel’s Brothers Foundation in Thailand. The schools (Primary and Secondary) have an extremely good reputation for providing Thai children with quality, well-rounded education. Perhaps Assumption College’s greatest ‘claim to fame’ is the fact that four of Thailand’s former Prime Ministers have graduated from the schools. The Primary and Secondary schools are located on different campuses in the heart of Bangkok. Each school has an enrollment of approximately 3500 male students.

  • The schools are exceedingly well equipped with modern facilities including computer laboratories, music laboratories, specialist arts and crafts rooms, libraries, tennis courts and swimming pools. The 2009 academic year saw the addition of the new inter-active DISCOVERY Learning Centre.
  • The Director of Assumption College Bangkok is Rev. Bro. Anant Preechawut. Brother Anant began his tenure at the school in April 2004. The Principal of the Primary School is Bro. Arun Methaset. The brothers are supported by seven ‘Assistant Directors’ including Bro. Pisutr Vapiso.
  • The Head of the English Native Speakers Program (ENS) is Mr. Nick Tongen. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the English Native Speakers Program in cooperation with ACP Staff.

Teaching and learning:

  • ENS teachers are required to teach a maximum of 20 hours face to face per week. There are 22-23 students in each ENS class.

  • During relief from teaching hours, ENS teachers are required to fulfill other duties such as lesson planning, lesson report completion, classroom decoration, worksheet marking and resource building.
  • ENS teachers are provided classrooms to teach in with modern audio-visual facilities and plenty of space to teach activity-focused and communication-based English classes. To assist the teachers, ACP has also made a significant investment in new books, games, videos, posters and other resources to be incorporated into ENS lessons.
  • The ENS program focuses on teaching all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) to young learners.
  • The ENS curriculum relies mainly on the story-based, award-winning, Bugs, course book series by Macmillan.
  • ENS teachers work in the Thai teacher’s staffroom on their grade level. There are two ENS teachers on each grade level.

JOBS@ACP.ENS:

  • Assumption College Primary Section is now recruiting ENS teachers for EFL teaching positions with a March 19th, 2010 start date. These positions are for a one-year contract with an opportunity to re-sign for the 2011 academic year.

  • Assumption College values high-quality teachers and therefore offers a very competitive salary package in comparison to other Thai schools.

Benefits include:

  • 48,000 baht a month (before 9% tax).
  • 3,000 baht monthly increment for re-signing teachers.
  • 1 year BUPA insurance cover (including repatriation).
  • 40,000 baht 1 year completion bonus.
  • Free daily meals in the school canteen.
  • Approx 10 weeks a year paid holiday.

  • Prospective ENS teachers must be qualified, NATIVE ENGLISH speakers with a Bachelor Degree and recognized TEFL certification such as a CELTA, Trinity certTESOL, or equivalent. Experience teaching young learners is a definite plus as well.
  • If you are interested in the position and would like to know more, please send your cover letter, resume and recent photograph to Nick Tongen: [email protected]
  • Replies will then be sent to short-listed applicants only.
  • Telephone interviews will be arranged for applicants from abroad and interviews at the school will be arranged for local applicants.
