Small home school cooperative in Mae Sot looking for qualified primary school teacher to take over teaching in July. Currently the group is 9 children including both pre-K (mostly supported by local teaching assistant) & K-2 levels.

PRIMARY TEACHER Wanted-
by homeschool parents in Mae Sot

Background
The Homeschool Group was initiated by a group of parents living and working in Mae Sot to address a gap in local education opportunities for their children. This gap includes a lack of English language learning opportunities but just as importantly, a shared pedagogy. The Homeschool aims to approach development of early primary competencies through creativity, critical thinking, discovery and an interactive approach to learning.

The Homeschools current teacher is returning home (as planned) in July 2015 and we are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated educator to join us as soon as possible.

Primary Responsibilities

•Develop and facilitate lessons on core subjects - English, Math and Science.
•Develop materials and activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.
•Prepare children for formal schooling by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
•Observe and inform parents on children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
•Agree with parents the learning goals for each individual student and report on progress regularly and ways to support that learning (at home).
•Support the development and revision of Montessori learning materials.

To do above, the ideal teacher would need to:

•Have experience with primary education and participatory teaching methodologies
•Be committed to our Child Protection guidelines
•Commit for at least 6 months (subject to review)
•Be creative, imaginative, flexible, knowing that each child brings their own strengths, the children belong to different ages and different exposures to formal and informal education
•Be able to conduct a variety of home-schooling teaching activities by use of different materials, techniques and learning plans

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys seeing children learn and grow, is skillful at facilitating learning, and is excited by the opportunity to create their own interactive learning environment.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualification

If you are interested, please send your cover letter and CV. Thanks!
