Two English teachers required to teach undergraduate students at Uttaradit Rajabhat University with a June start date. Hours are around 16 per week, with no evenings or weekends. The monthly salary is 30,500 for a BA and 34,000 for an MA. There is also an annual bonus and a system of annual increments which are discretionary and based on performance. This is a higher than average salary for a Thai university and a good salary for the area. You should be under 60 years of age and hold a degree in any subject and preferably also a TEFL certificate. Applicants must be native speakers from either the UK, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. Please do not apply if you do not meet these criteria.
Uttaradit is a medium-sized town situated between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, with good road and rail links. It boasts a Tesco-Lotus, KFC, Pizza Company, a disco and a department store. Uttaradit has many areas of natural beauty such as the lake and its surrounds at the nearby Sirikit Dam. There is little tourism, as the town does not feature in Lonely Planet or Rough Guides. Having said this, if you want all the amenities of a city then Uttaradit is not for you. If you want to learn to speak Thai and integrate with the local Thai community this position might be of interest.
The university is well resourced for teaching English. There are computer labs, a well-stocked library with up-to-date books, CD's and DVD's and a self-access language-learning centre. The university also has a 50-metre swimming pool, a gym with free-weights and Nautilus-like machines, tennis courts and a synthetic running track.
Accommodation in the area should cost around 3-4,000 Baht per month for an air-conditioned apartment or town house. If you are interested send your CV to:
