Assumption College's Bilingual Program has been running at primary and secondary levels for 12 years, and we employ a total of 10 foreign teachers in our department, as well as several Thai team teachers.
We are currently looking to recruit one new teacher, for a 1-year teaching contract starting at the beginning of January 2011. This position, at least for the first 2 months, is to teach English to Primary 1 and upper Secondary - an interesting mix. After the long holidays when the new school year starts in May, this will be able to be changed to either primary or secondary, according to the successful candidate's abilities.
Ubon Ratchatani is a lively city in the heart of Northeastern Thailand - big enough to have the usual big shopping centres and amenities, but small enough to feel out of the rat-race. The cost of living can be pretty low if you need it to be. Ubon people are extremely friendly and laid-back. Even more so than the rest of Thailand, eating is the local pastime.
Applicants should be native speakers of English, enthusiastic, caring, responsible and flexible. They should have a bachelors degree, and experience teaching at the relevant levels.
All our teachers are expected to take a full role in school life - this means not just planning, preparing and teaching classes, but being in the teachers' office throughout the school day, and taking part in morning assembly, a weekly meeting, and various extra-curricular activities such as a yearly English camp, parents' meeting day, sports' day, show night, etc etc!
Foreign teachers have Thai team teachers for most or all of their classes, so the ability to work together is essential. There are between 20 and 35 students per class, and we generally teach 20 contact hours per week.
We offer a salary of 30,000 Baht per month, 11 weeks paid holiday per year, and a friendly and supportive working environment.
