We require 2 English teachers and 2 Maths teachers for the upcoming academic year.

Satree Phuket is a well respected government secondary school situated in Phuket City.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Teach a minimum of two English courses in English (Lower Secondary: Years 7-8-9, aged 13-17); 18-20 periods / week, including tutoring in a supplementary session and a project, and perform relevant duties to meet the teaching standard of assigned courses (e.g. produce supplementary materials and teaching aids for the courses, providing advice/assistance to students as needed)
• Write lesson plans at least 2 weeks in advance, illustrating teaching approach, strategy, how to encourage students to think critically, assessments, etc.)
• Conduct proper assessments/evaluation, and report the results to the school
• Coordinate with a Thai academic assistant to: -check their attendance at the morning assembly -advise and help the students in the class regarding their behavior and study problems -perform homeroom teacher duties at least once a week
• Conduct classroom action research to develop teaching and students learning
• Initiate and manage projects to boost students English proficiency, such as setting up an English club or English project or English contests within school and beyond
• Work full time as a teacher of Satree Phuket School (office hours: 7.50 a.m. – 4.30 p.m.)

SALARY:
The salary quoted below is applicable for one holding the relevant degree (e.g. an English teacher holds a degree of Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language (TESL/TEFL) or Education, majoring in English, a Science teacher holds a degree of Science

• Bachelor: 35,000 Baht/month;
• Master: 40,000 Baht/month

An increase of salary is between 2-10% annually depending on:

• Teaching performance,
• A portfolio,
• Research work
• Responsibility fulfillment and smooth working relation with school administrators and colleagues

VISA & WORK PERMIT:
First , obtain a non-immigrant-B visa (initially 3 months granted); after the signing of the contract/ an agreement of the contract signing, this initial visa will be extended for the duration of the contract.

Secondly, apply for a work permit.

Expenses You need to pay all expenses incurred in obtaining your non-B visa. After that the school will pay for your single visa extension and work permit up to 5,000 baht
A school assistant will advise you the procedure of applying for your visa and work permit once you are accepted as a school teacher. However, you might like to note

ACCOMMODATION:
If feasible, the school will provide a free accommodation; if not, you will receive a monthly housing allowance of 3,000 Baht.

LEAVE:
You are allowed for a 3-week leave with pay. In addition, you will have 20 holidays in Thailand (not including May Day, (meant only for laborers), each marking different national events.

ORIENTATION:
You are required to attend the School’s Orientation for new teachers (the date to be specified, but should be on any day in the 3rd week of April or about three weeks prior to the first day of the classes). The orientation will be the forum of information dissemination and exchange of queries/problems.

Major information to be communicated includes: required daily routine, dress code, academic obligations (courses preparation, classes, assessments, exams, portfolios, research, etc), extra curricular activities (camping, clubs, etc.), intercultural communication (working culture, Thai general characteristics, etc.)
